WSFS Becomes the Official Banking Partner of the Philadelphia Union Soccer Team

The Philadelphia Union and WSFS Bank recently announced a new multi-year partnership agreement that will make WSFS the official banking partner and community supporter of the Philadelphia Union major league soccer team and Subaru Park.

WSFS looked for ways to build its brand in the Delaware Valley and the major league football team was seen as a good choice given the growing popularity of the team, which has its home stadium in Chester, Pennsylvania, and participated in the hunt for the playoffs.

Further opportunities were blocked with Lincoln Financial taking over the naming rights for the Philadelphia Eagles home stadium and Citizens Bank holding the same status with the Phillies home stadium until 2028. The Eagles retained the smaller Firstrust as the team’s official bank.

The deal marks the first major sports partnership for WSFS, the largest locally-based bank and wealth management franchise in Delaware and the Greater Philadelphia area.

“We are thrilled to become the official bank of the Philadelphia Union. The Union have been one of the most successful teams in Major League Soccer in recent years and their success on the pitch is matched, if not surpassed, by the support of their community off the pitch. Our shared commitment to creating opportunities for our communities to thrive makes this an ideal partnership,” said Justin Dunn, Chief Marketing Officer, WSFS Bank. “We know the power that sponsorship of a great local sports team can bring to a brand and we look forward to giving fans special items like a co-branded debit card.”

Sponsorship includes community-focused events that benefit children, days of service, and a community ticket donation program.

The “Small Business of the Match” program, a co-branded debit card and several prize draws are also planned. Additionally, WSFS will support Philadelphia Union Foundation initiatives that include the iAM project and Chester High School football.
