Waves defeat PCH Cup Rival LMU 2-0

MALIBU, Calif. – Carlee Giammona and shelby little found the back of the net late in the second half as the Pepperdine Women’s Soccer Team beat PCH Cup rivals Loyola Marymount 2-0 on Saturday afternoon at Tari Frahm Rokus Field.

The Waves (9-3-4, 3-2-2 WCC) dominated the entire game and limited the Lions (3-6-6, 1-6-0 WCC) to just three shots and none on target. LMU limited Pepperdine to just four shots in the first 45 minutes and kept the scoresheet clean until the 73rd minute. Harlee Head collected the second solo shutout of his career.

GOALS

Pepperdine 73 ‘: The Waves obtain a corner on the left side of the field. Junior midfielder Enge Skylar (Cardiff, Calif./Pacific Ridge School) took the corner and sent a ball to the middle of the box. The LMU keeper tried to kick the ball in, but the senior midfielder Carlee Giammona (Las Vegas, Nevada/Palo Verde HS/Alabama) jumped over a Lions defender and sent the ball into the net. It was Giammona’s ninth goal this season, which is a team high.

Pepperdine 90′: Senior Defender Trinity Watson (Ocean Beach, Calif./Point Loma HS) had a rocket shot on goal that was saved by LMU’s Sadie Kenny. Watson went to the left side of the field to follow the rebound, then sent a cross into midfield shelby little (Thousand Oaks, CA/Hillcrest Christian HS) in the middle of the box. Five seconds before the final whistle, Little fired a right-footed shot from inside the box that worked its way to the bottom left corner in the back of the net. It was Little’s third goal this season.
