PHILADELPHIA – The Temple men’s soccer team (1-1-1, 0-0-0 AAC) will return home on Labor Day to face rival Philadelphia Soccer Six Penn (1-0-0, 0-0-0 Ivy League). This will be the Owls’ only Philly Soccer Six game of the season. Participation is free for all fans and will be streamed on ESPN+.

> Temple suffered their first defeat of the season, falling to No. 19/9 Georgetown 5-2 on Friday.
> The Hoyas scored all three goals in the first half to enter the break with a 3-0 lead. Temple rallied with two goals in three minutes to reduce the deficit, before conceding twice in the final 13 minutes as the Owls were forced to push for a late score.
> Captain Mike Eijgendaal scored on a PK after being fouled in the box. Yann Koumi scored the other goal for Cherry and White. His scoring was helped by Eijgendaal
> Three Owls saw their first action of the season in Laurent Kwazema, George Medilland Guy Panzner.

> Eijgendaal has been dynamic on offense so far in 2022. The former second-team All-AAC forward is tied for the lead in AAC and is tied for 7e in the country in assists. He provided three assists in three of Temple’s four goals, with Eijgendaal also scoring the fourth.
> Yann Koumi is tied for 8e at the American in goals scored with two.
> Guardian Eoin Gawronsky is among America’s top hitters. He ranks 1st in the conference in saves per game with 7 and is also the leader in total saves with 21. Nationally, he ranks 14e total backups.
> Tonight is Pride Night for the Cherry and White, celebrating the LGBTQ+ community in Temple.

> In 2021, the Quakers went 7-6-1. It was their second straight winning season. Penn has only played one game so far in 2022, beating Rider 2-1.
> Penn was chosen to finish fifth in an Ivy League talent.
> Quakers return with key players from last season. Including, First Team All-Ivy League, Philadelphia Soccer Six Rookie of the Year and Soccer Six All-Star team selection Leo Burney, and Ivy League Honorable Mention, and Soccer Six All-Star pick Stas Korzeniowski.
> Brian Gill is at the helm of Penn in his 5e year and 4e season due to Ivy’s absence in 2020. Gill is 20-16-13 as head coach at University City. Prior to his stint with the Quakers, Gill was an assistant at the national powerhouse in Georgetown.

> It’s 40e all-time meeting between Temple and Penn. Penn is Temple’s 12th most played opponent of all time and least played in the Soccer Six.
> Temple is 7-25-7 against Penn.
> The two teams last met in October last season. Penn won 2-1 in a comeback win.
