Tech Women’s Football Unveils Spring 2022 Schedule

NOIRSBOURG – Fully committed to its off-season training schedule, the Virginia Tech women’s soccer team announced its spring 2022 competitive schedule on Monday, featuring five exhibition outings that will serve as early opportunities for the Hokies to build chemistry. ahead of their official fall season.

Tech is coming off their best ACC performance since 2015, getting the results in seven of their 10 league appearances on the verge of posting a 12-6-2 (5-3-2 ACC) record. In November, the Hokies (RPI No. 30) qualified for their eighth NCAA Tournament in head coach Chugger Adair’s 11 seasons at the helm of Blacksburg, beating Ohio State before reaching the second round in the seventh Arkansas rank.

On Saturday, Feb. 19, Tech will descend on Bryan Park outside of Greensboro, NC, where the Hokies will face UNCW (11-4-1, RPI No. 61) at 6 p.m. The Seahawks defended CAA in the 2021 regular season despite dropping their league semifinal game against fourth seed Northeastern, 1-0.

On March 26, Tech travels to West Virginia (10-5-5, RPI #45) for a 2 p.m. kickoff in Morgantown. The Mountaineers finished tied for sixth in the Big 12 regular season draw and didn’t concede a goal in their two postseason games, exiting the league semifinals via penalty kicks. goal.

On April 1, Tech heads to Liberty (11-7-0, RPI #94) for an 18-hour show in Lynchburg, Va. In August, the Hokies opened the 2021 regular season with their 3-0 win over the Flames, who finished second in the Atlantic Sun’s East Division.

On April 10, Tech will once again cross state lines to take on Marshall (3-11-2) in Huntington, West Virginia. The kickoff between the Hokies and the Thundering Herd is scheduled for 3 p.m.

Finally, Tech will participate in a neutral-site exhibition against Tennessee (20-3-0, RPI #8), hosted by ETSU in Johnson City, Tennessee. The Volunteers won the 2021 SEC Championship and earned the No. 3 seed in Florida State’s NCAA Tournament region, advancing to the third round (round of 16).
