Snow College men’s basketball head coach Andrew May has announced the signing of 6’0 freshman point guard Jamir Stephens.

Snow College men’s basketball head coach Andrew May has announced the signing of 6’0 freshman point guard Jamir Stephens.

“Jamir is a fast, strong and tough playmaker,” May said. “Jamir is physically ready for college and prides himself on being a great defender consistently guarding the best guards in Las Vegas. His ability to handle the ball and create advantages by entering the paint with speed, strength and explosiveness will cause trouble to opposing teams. He’s a good passer and a steady, calm leader on his high school team, which fits with our culture here at Snow College. Glad to welcome Jamir to the team!”

Jamir was recently named MVP of the @theballdawgs Vegas Senior All-Star Showcase and was 3rd team All-State in Nevada and 2nd team All-region with an average of 13 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and two steals per game .

“Just watching the guys play through the season was a really fun and exciting thing to see. Everyone brought that intensity from the coaches down to the last man on the bench.” Jamir said: “I feel like with the way I play I would fit right into the system. It was easy for me to decide to go to Snow College because the coaching staff m made me feel so at home. The sky’s the limit for us and I feel like we can accomplish a lot of great things together.”

Jamir’s junior season was canceled due to Covid-19, but he was part of a back-to-back state runner-up as a freshman and sophomore.
