Miami FC football player arrested for alleged sexual assault in Southwest Miami-Dade – NBC 6 South Florida
A member of the Miami FC football team was arrested on Tuesday for sexually assaulting a woman in a classroom on the FIU campus.
Jahshaun Anglin, 20, was arrested later that evening and charged with one count of sexual violence.
According to an arrest report, Anglin met the victim on a bench near the 11000 block of Southwest 12th Street and the two agreed to meet at a different location.
Once inside the room, Anglin reportedly asked the victim to perform a sexual act that she refused to do. Anglin then put his hands in his pants and underwear and started assaulting him, according to the report.
The victim tried to leave, but the two struggled and Anglin reportedly prevented her from leaving. The report states that Anglin committed a sexual act on the victim before a witness entered and he escaped.
Police questioned the victim, who identified Anglin and he was taken into custody. Anglin was being held on $ 10,000 bond.
A native of Jamaica, Anglin has played 12 games this season for Miami FC. The team released a statement Wednesday after the arrest.
“We are aware of the situation involving a member of Miami FC and we are cooperating with local law enforcement on this matter,” the team statement said. “The club have no further comments as this is an ongoing investigation.”
