Gridley and Las Plumas boys and girls split Butte View League football matches

The Las Plumas women’s soccer team defeated Gridley 4-1 Thursday night in Gridley.

Las Plumas freshman Hannah Scheer scored two goals, and Katie Her and Raenna State scored one each.

LP keeper Makayla Hancock made six saves and Gridley keeper Danika Montero made 19 saves.

Gridley’s only goal came from Maria Espinoza. Bulldogs coach Mark Canfield says Haven Counihan and Taylor Rickertsen played outstanding defense for Gridley.

Las Plumas (6-1-2, 4-1-1 Butte View League) next plays at 4 p.m. Tuesday at home against Orland.

Gridley (4-7-1, 1-6 BVL) next plays at 3:15 p.m. Thursday at Sutter.

Boys football preparation

Gridley 4, Las Plumas 0: Gridley ruled out Las Plumas at Gridley on Thursday night.

Kevin Martinez scored two goals, and Gilberto Jimenez and Ricardo Ramos scored one each. Martinez, Jimenez and David Jauregui got one assist each.

In Gridley’s goal, senior keeper Christian Benitez made a save in the shutout.

No individual stats were reported by Las Plumas.

Gridley (9-4-2, 5-0-2 BVL) next plays at 3:15 p.m. Thursday at Sutter.

Las Plumas (4-3-3, 2-1-3 BVL) will next play at 6 p.m. Tuesday at home against Orland.
