George Washington High School Girls’ Football Edges Ponderosa
The Patriots scored the lone goal in Wednesday’s 1-0 win over the Mustangs.
DENVER — George Washington’s women’s soccer team turned the script on Wednesday.
After being shut out 1-0 by Centaurus in their first game of the season, the Patriots returned the favor by shutting out Ponderosa by the same score Wednesday afternoon at home.
Darby Jones scored the game’s only goal – the junior midfielder took advantage of a 35-yard free kick in the first half. Goaltender Lulu Fickes was credited with the shutout in goal.
George Washington goes 1-1 on aggregate this season and plays its first Denver Prep League game on Friday against Regis Groff at 4:30 p.m.
Ponderosa (0-1) will be looking to pick up its first win when the Mustangs host Chaparral for their home opener at 4 p.m. Friday.
