MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Senior Defender Jordan brewster of West Virginia University’s women’s football team has been named the 2021 United Football Coaching Star, the organization said.

Brewster secured a spot on the third team and is the 25th Mountaineers player to win an All-America honor, as she won her first All-America nod in 2020-21 as a second team member of United Soccer Coaches All-America. Of the 47 players honored this year, Brewster is one of 14 student-athletes to win the second All-America honor of their career.

“We are all so proud of how hard Jordan worked to accomplish this incredible honor,” WVU coach Nikki Izzo-Brown noted. “To be named a once in your career All-American is a huge deal, but winning back-to-back honors is a tremendous accomplishment.”

A native of North Canton, Ohio, Brewster played all 1,922 minutes of play for West Virginia this fall and helped the defense register 11 shutouts, including nine in the regular season, the most since 2017. The double co- captain started all 20 games and scored six points (2G, 2A), earning first-team All-Big 12 honors, as well as weekly Big 12 Conference and accolades.

Additionally, Brewster was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watchlist for the second straight season earlier this year, and she was nominated for the 2021 Senior Class Women’s Soccer Award. She was also part of the United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Region first team earlier this week.

With that honor, WVU has now totaled 59 all-time All-America honors. Brewster is the first mountaineer to earn back-to-back accolades since Ashley Lawrence (2015-16) and Kadeisha Buchanan (2013-14-15-16).

WVU finished the year with a 10-5-5 record, including a 3-3-3 rating in Big 12 Conference play. The Mountaineers have won at least 10 games for the 22nd straight season and marked their seventh appearance in the Big 12 Championship semifinal since joining the league in 2012.
